How are Live GPS System Works?
The GPS unit has a
wireless modem inside same as what a cell phone has
inside. This is how the system communicates the GPS data
out of the vehicle in real-time (see Wireless Networks
below). Additionally, a GPS antenna is tethered to the
unit with a lead wire (typically 10'-15'). The GPS
antenna collects the GPS data and feeds it to the chip
set in the unit, the data is fed through the wireless
network (via modem) and the data is sent out to be
displayed to the end user via the web.
